I have spent the last 25 years immersed in artistic and creative endeavours.  After receiving a BFA in Painting with a minor in Art History in 2000 from Northern Illinois University and an MFA in Printmaking from Illinois State in 2003,  I became increasingly interested in my work as an art handler, preparator and assistant to the curator at McLean County Art Center In Bloomington, IL.  The meticulous problem solving necessary when installing artwork coupled with the curatorial dialogues which fueled collaborative relationships between the gallery and artists and viewers not only sparked my creative interests but also complimented my technical abilities.

Moving to Chicago in 2005, I got a job working for the largest custom frame shop in the country and spent the next decade working with people in both residential and commercial settings to arrange and hang their art. Working with customers directly and collaborating with artists, designers, and consultants has honed and refined my understanding of installation materials and ability to clearly communicate aesthetic ideas.

Now, in forming Jake Feldman Fine Art Installation, LLC, I am excited to be able to focus my energies on creating artistically dynamic environments for residential and commercial spaces.

(They/Them)

As a recent BFA graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with concentrations in BioArt and Sculpture, I have spent the last 4 years consumed by a space that oozes fresh design and conceptual conversations.

Coming directly out of that world, and with a background working in commercial and non-profit galleries, as well as having shown my own work both nationally and internationally, I am no stranger to art installation.

While my personal artistic practice hovers more at the intersection of botany, fibers, and furniture making, I find myself forever swirling around ideas of created environments and how meaning and feeling can be conveyed through them. I am an incredibly detail oriented person who gets just as wrapped up in achieving big picture visions as I do in finding small magical moments to be had along the way. I thrive in a world of problems that need creative solutions and love the puzzle that is carefully curating conversations through the placement of art recontextualizing the meaning of spaces.
